The Inverted Eye is the physical and ideological manifestation of the lens through which I see the world, bringing together the values of adventure and open-mindedness, the vision of thriving on the fringe, and the freedom to self-explore and express. This viewpoint is something I have developed over the last 20 years, since moving to the Bay Area in 1988.

Through studying theatre at Oxford and Women's Studies at UC Berkeley, coming out as a genderqueer dyke and into the BDSM community, teaching sex and health education, performing cutting-edge music, drag and spoken word, and traveling extensively, I have honed my inverted eyesight. The Inverted Eye is a true reflection of who I am - combining my history, my politics, my aesthetic, and my joy.

Once I've launched the Inverted Eye as an online shop, my next goal will be to open a physical retail store and community based social and educational space in San Francisco in early 2009. Beyond the initial incarnation of the retail and community space, I intend to create the Inverted Eye Museum of Perversion within 5 years.

I am looking to network with collectors, purveyors and enthusiasts of fetish and kinky vintage items/antiques and am very interested in buying people's individual pieces as well as entire collections and estates. I intend to carry some new items as well, so I am currently looking for vendors (Jewelry, Clothing, Art/ Photography, etc.) whose work will fit appropriately into the spirit and aesthetic of the store.
